South Florida Shuffleboard Court Construction & Maintenance

Armor Courts is a licensed and insured sports surfacing contractor specializing in shuffleboard court construction, resurfacing, and maintenance throughout South Florida. While shuffleboard courts may appear simple, proper construction requires precise planning, drainage control, and surface finishing to ensure accurate play and long-term durability.

From new installations to full reconstructions, our team provides clear guidance and dependable execution for residential communities, HOAs, schools, and municipal properties.

Professional Shuffleboard Court Construction

Selecting a licensed contractor is essential for shuffleboard court construction, even for smaller projects. Local cities and counties may require permits, engineered plans, or inspections depending on the scope of work. Our trained estimators evaluate site conditions and explain what is required before construction begins.

Shuffleboard courts can be adjusted to fit available space, but proportions must remain consistent for proper play. Adequate clearance around the court is also recommended to allow player movement and spectator viewing.

A regulation shuffleboard playing surface measures 39 feet long by 6 feet wide, with recommended overall dimensions of 10 feet wide by 52 feet long for a single court.

Drainage, Slope & Surface Accuracy

Proper slope is critical to shuffleboard performance. Courts are constructed with a side-to-side pitch between 0.05% and 0.15%, allowing water to drain away from the playing surface without affecting game accuracy.

Incorrect drainage or settling over time can make courts unplayable. Many older shuffleboard courts suffer from erosion or uneven surfaces caused by soil movement. In these cases, reconstruction using the existing footprint can restore proper playability while improving durability.

Concrete Construction & Finishing Process

Most shuffleboard courts are constructed using concrete. The process begins with forming the court according to approved plans, followed by pouring and finishing the surface by experienced concrete technicians.

Once poured, the concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days to ensure long-term strength and stability. After curing, our applicators install an acrylic coating system and complete all striping, numbers, and lettering.

Our acrylic surface incorporates fine glass beads within multiple coating applications, producing a smooth, consistent finish suitable for recreational and competitive play.

Shuffleboard Court Maintenance & Restoration

Although shuffleboard construction has declined over time, the sport remains popular across all age groups. Existing courts often require resurfacing or reconstruction due to fading, cracking, or surface wear.

When full reconstruction is not necessary, resurfacing can restore appearance and playability at a lower cost. Our team evaluates each court to determine whether repair, resurfacing, or reconstruction is the most effective solution.

We also offer ongoing maintenance services to extend surface life and reduce long-term repair costs.
